[Into The Sky] Everyone has a song in them that needs to be sung, like a bird that needs to find its sky. This is a story about songwriting, growing up and finding love. On the quest to search for the song in me, I found love, life, faith and hope. It has become something I understand more often than not, it is the journey that is more precious than the destination. Cher Siang wrote this musical-like song for me after knowing my penchant for theatre songs. I like how the orchestral arrangement by Euywein has added a touch of Disney sound to it. Song written in 2012
[Stay there till] After writing Restless Heart and Into The Sky, Cher Siang went on and wrote another new tune for me in 2012, “This one is like an old fashioned, simple love song.” I quickly wrote the lyrics for this tune and was happy that I finally have something ‘simple’ to sing. But the catch is that Cher Siang’s music is usually not the easiest to pick up (it’s too clever, haha) but I suppose my naivety back then was a blessing – I would jump at anything he dangle in front of me like a hungry young pup. Perfecting the groove and his music have always been a struggle for me; I’m used to falling flat on my face on stage (metaphorically) and go home to lick my wounds. But what to do, I’m just a girl who can’t say no, especially when the bait is so gorgeous. Song written in 2012
