Joget Malaysia
I first got to know about ‘Joget Malaysia’ thanks to the jazz singer Yudi Yap when we did a musical called Modern Grand Hotel to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Federal Hotel. It was first sung by P. Ramlee and Saloma in the 1964 musical drama Ragam P. Ramlee, an early production of Merdeka Film Productions based in Kuala Lumpur. Carried by a lovely melody, it’s a song born of hope, the dream of a united country, where everyone has a place.
