Putera Puteri
Jimmy Boyle was perhaps the greatest of all the musicians to emerge in Penang in the middle decades of the twentieth century: a legendary pianist, band leader, composer and educator. Always proud of his country, his fervent hope was to perpetuate the soul and spirit of Malaysia and its people through music. ‘Putera Puteri’, written in the 1960s, is unabashedly patriotic and has been covered by a host of singers, testimony to its enduring popularity.
