[Restless Heart] It was full moon outside my bedroom window years ago, and I started singing the words that would come to be the opening lyrics for this song that I co-wrote with Tay Cher Siang. The result would be one song I’ve struggled to perfect over the years since we first performed it at No Black Tie almost 4 years ago. I have said it again and again that the music is too clever for me but I am just too stubborn to quit trying. Exasperated I would often say to Cher Siang, “Why can’t you write simpler music for me, something I can sing well?” To which his reply would always be, “No, you will practice and practice until you get it; it’s good to have a challenge”. There are many names I need to thank in helping me with the lyrics and the singing of this song; thank you my angels: Elvira, Zalina, Nick Choo, Suk Yin, Yon Lynn. This song has gone to many different places with me in the past years while I have been trying to gain confidence to really soar with this song. It also echoes what Justin used to tell me: “Sing a happy song when you’re feeling sad.”
